National Water Dance (NWD), created and directed by Dale Andree, is an artist driven collective of dancers and educators stretching from coast to coast and from Alaska to Florida. NWD creates simultaneous, site-specific performances with movers of all ages and experience, bringing attention to the pressing issues of water in the United States. These performances are live streamed and an edited video of the national event is created. The participants share movement phrases via the internet and build community through the website as each location addresses their own issues regarding water. The main event happens every 2 years but connections and off shoot performances happen in the intervening years.
